Last week when we published an article about Rent-A-Butch and The Handy Dyke, two local handyqueer companies located in Portland and Minneapolis, our comments section exploded (both on the website and on our Instagram) with readers who wished they could hire queer handypeople in their own cities and towns.
Well, amazing news — many of you can! Here’s a list of handyqueers across the United States to follow on Instagram and to employ if you happen to live in the same place as they do. If there’s a handyqueer company near you that we’ve missed, let us know in the comments! And goddess bless the queers who know how to paint, build, fix, and all around help in ways that many of us never could. We love to pay you for your work and to sing your praises on the internet!

Vanessa is a writer, a teacher, and the community editor at Autostraddle. She used to be hot and fun but now she’s mostly hot and sad. Find her on twitter and instagram.
Vanessa has written 379 articles for us.
The Venn diagram people on this list and the people I’d swipe right on a dating app on happens to be a perfect circle
I am rural so I forwarded 3 of these on to a queer near Seattle who just happens to need these services! (She recently got *laughed at* by a toxic man when asking about availability. Ick ugh 🙄)
This is great! We have a lesbian neighbor who is an electrician, and instead of fixing things herself she’ll teach my wife and I how to do it for the same rate. It definitely takes her longer to walk us through it, and it is so cool to have these personal lessons on home maintenance with someone we feel so comfortable with!
I don’t see anyone in my area listed, but still this a great. Also was recently turned onto the Trans Handy Ma’am work & it’s just excellent!
Going to plug my friend Paula who is qtwoc bike mechanic & shop owner. Her excellent with tools. You can follow her @lacyclery on IG.
